Press Start: What Is Open Source AI Week?

Open Source AI Week is a community-run, decentralized celebration of open-source artificial intelligence. It is not one conference — it is a whole week (and then some) of independently hosted events stitched together by a shared belief: that AI should be open, accessible, and built by everyone.

Anyone can host an event. Whether you are a startup, a research lab, a meetup, a nonprofit, or a few friends with a projector — if your event has an open-source relationship, you can put it on the calendar. Talks, workshops, hackathons, demo nights, panels, office hours: all welcome.

Submit your event for approval, get listed on the official Luma calendar, and join hundreds of organizations bringing open-source AI to everyone.

Also known as Open Intelligence Week, Open Source AI Week is the Bay Area's flagship open source AI conference week — anchoring the kickoff party, the Open Source AI Debates, a weekend hackathon and the Open Source AI Awards.

Oct 17-18	Sat-Sun	The Hackathon Local Open Models	Open models, local inference, on-device. Demo night closes Sunday.
Oct 19	Mon	The Debates Open Debates & Talks	Frontier safety, open vs. closed models. Named debaters, spicy topics, videos posted later.
Oct 20-21	Tue-Wed	PyTorch Conference	PyTorch Foundation 2-day event (San Jose).
Oct 22-23	Thu-Fri	AGNTCon+MCPCon	A conference on agents and model context protocol (San Jose).
Oct 23	Fri	Open Source AI Awards Awards Night	Awards for the people of open-source AI, then an evening of connecting with the community.
